My name is Kirsten Karbach, I am the Play-by-Play Broadcaster and Director of Public/Media Relations for the Reading Fightin Phils, the Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. I began my broadcasting career in the fall of 2010 at the University of South Florida. While in college I developed my play-by-play skills and discovered a passion for broadcasting, calling baseball, softball, volleyball, and basketball for Bulls Radio, USF's student radio station. I worked my way up from volunteer, to Sports Coordinator, to Bulls Radio Sports Director during my three years with the station. It was during that time that I gained experience writing and filling in as a color commentator with the Dunedin Blue Jays, and secured my first internship in Minor League Baseball as a broadcast/media relations assistant with the Charlotte Stone Crabs in 2012. In six seasons with the Threshers I had the opportunity to provide the play-by-play and production of Threshers baseball, compose game recaps and feature stories, and conduct audio and video interviews, while also handling gameday media relations duties including the creation and distribution of Game Notes, stat packs, rosters, and more. I also had the chance to expand coverage to include multimedia products ranging from spotlight interviews to 2016's Threshers On Deck web series, and contribute voiceovers and stand-ups for in-game ads on the stadium videoboard and team website, and commercials which aired locally in the Tampa Bay area. In addition to eight years broadcasting Minor League Baseball, I have had the opportunity to call college softball for ESPN3 and ESPNU, the 2018 Women's Baseball World Cup, Philadelphia Phillies Spring Training, the American Athletic Conference Baseball tournament, and the Canadian Junior National team Spring Showcase, and served as the emcee of the Opening Session at the 2018 Baseball Winter Meetings in Las Vegas. |
